Adios, Eduardo...
As expected, Eduardo Najera is no longer a Denver Nugget. I think we can collectively agree that we sincerely appreciated Najera's time in Denver. He gave a solid effort on a nightly basis, and his toughness and energy around the basket will be missed.Who's going to set picks now?

If I'm reading that story correctly, only $8m guaranteed.
Warkentien better have some kind of move up his sleeve before Halloween...

I read it again, and the fourth year is guaranteed but the third is partially non-guaranteed? How would that work?
Something is odd about the writing or about my reading.

So keeping that in mind, it would make sense that if the team picked up the 3rd year option, it would instantly make the fourth guaranteed, thus his salary does not count against the cap in 2 years due to the option.

Najera really improved his three point shooting. Also, he was a great spark off the bench. I would have preferred to see him play in a Nuggets' uniform next season, but at least he signed with an Eastern Conference team.
The funny thing is he wanted to stay a Nugget. So much for that.

Najara is a limited player, but check out Denver's +/- stats from last year. Other than Iverson, Najara had the best +/- on the team.
In other words, we were a lot better when he was on the floor than when he was on the bench.
"if I have to choose between reupping Eddie or JR, it's JR in a heartbeat."
Of course, but considering how cheaply Najara went, it wasn't an either/or proposition.
Let's hope Warkentien has other plans for the money, and that they're not just pinching luxury tax pennies while burning luxury tax dollars. I'm worried we're falling into the Phoenix trap - spending enough to win, but cutting enough corners not to be elite.

"The third year will not be guaranteed due to LeBron being on the market in 2 years. The Nets plan to be able to offer him the Max. So keeping that in mind, it would make sense that if the team picked up the 3rd year option, it would instantly make the fourth guaranteed"
Makes no sense.
Najara wanted more years, not fewer. If things are as you describe, he's only getting two years guaranteed, which I'd bet the farm isn't the case.
And if my understand of the CBA rules are correct, a team can only have a team option in the final year of a contract, which would make the contract not legal as described in the article.

I think JR would be fine with coming off the bench like he did in the LA series. That worked well for him. He got his 30+ minutes, contributed and played well. The best i've seen him play actually. He suits that role.
Interestingly, the FOUR times JR got more than 30 minutes in a game last season (pre-season, regular season and post-season) he had great games. Notably the 43 points in Chicago, 26 points in Game 4 against LA and in two pre-season games where he put up 33 points in one of those games and a career high 7 assists.
JR can really produce when given the responsibility of actually having minutes. He actually ranked #1 in the NBA in Three-Point Field Goals Per 48 Minutes(5.3). To think this guy only gets 19 minutes a game! That's insane! There's no wonder that there's websites wanting this coach outta' here! He did click late last season though and even then, he averaged a decent 15.7 points but was only getting less than 22 minutes per game still. Crazy.
Man we need this guy. Bad

What made him such an asset to the team was that he knew his role and played it well. The Nuggets as a whole still don't know who the leader of their team is!

Farewell Eddie. During last season and the season before, often you were the only player on the floor (besides AI) that played with a crapload of heart.
