Around SBN: Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire Vow To Fit In With Lin

To all the A.C. haters, read this...

For those of you who regularly follow this blog, you probably read my defense of Anthony Carter earlier this month. My argument on Carter's behalf was that we shouldn't blame the guy with a $1 million, one-year contract, but rather the guy with the $15 million, five-year contract who plays him too many minutes. Furthermore, Carter plays his heart out when he gets minutes and doesn't complain whatsoever when his minutes are pulled.

As the Nuggets have gotten pummeled twice by the Lakers in the playoffs this week, the A.C. hatred has resurfaced numerous times in the comments. In an attempt to make all the A.C. haters feel bad, I strongly recommend reading this brief but insightful article about A.C.'s road to the NBA, written by the Orange County Register's Marcia Smith.

Yep, I read another article about AC's past some 4 months ago and I'll never talk bad about him as he deserves better.

But let's face it, he isn't a starting NBA point guard. And that's on GK's shoulders, as Andrew has said.

I too was surprised at the Anthony Carter haters. I was always impressed at how hard he played whenever he was in the game, and was surprised how well he played -- I never heard of him prior to this season. He's a good assist man and can defend in some ways better than Iverson, and he can occasionally score the basketball well, though I wish he could do it more often.

I personnaly never disliked AC. I always thought he brung it everynite. And was the most improved player this season. I just believed His playing time was too long and starting him opposite AI, gave up too much height. He did make some big plays also this season.

I wonder how AC would fair in a more structured Van-Gundy Offense and Defense with a well coached Denver nuggets team. As a matter of fact, I wonder how all of them would play with a little structure. AI excelled in more structured Offenses as well as Defenses. Having an open offense doesn't take advantage of what AI and Melo truly bring to the game.

As starting PG of the 2005 76ers AI averaged 33 and 8 on 45% shooting. Why limit AI's passing game if the stats show you win when he gets high numbers of Assists!? Melo and Ai rarley play off of each other... No Pick and Rolls or nothing. Just Iso that Melo never passes out of...

If I was the owner I'd leave the team as close to intact as I could and go with a new, HUNGRY coach. Make the necessary changes the coach would need. Draft good, and stomp thru the NBA next season cause Karl wasted this season, making the Nuggets the Laughing stock with 50 wins! (50 wins on pure talent)

Larry Brown resigns from Philly job today, looking to coach.

AC is a solid player. I don't think a starter. But he's nowhere near the reason this team isn't succeeding. I like AC's game. He hit big shots! Anybody remember that 2OT game against Houston? And he's come up clutch on other games too. Defence is his strength and he has done a solid job pushing the ball. Stats don't say everything

A lot of teams wouldn't have AC as the starting PG of their team, but coach Karl trusted him, and that's why he started at PG this season for the Nuggets. Though, he really isn't explosive as the other PG's in the West (Nash, Paul, Kidd, etc). But, he doesn't turn the ball over that much, and unlike the rest of the team, he usually doesn't rush his shot. AC most of the time only takes shots that he can make, which is playing basketball "the right way". I agree with getting rid of coach Karl, but keeping most of the team in tact. If Denver played Philly's scheme when they had Iverson, they would be a lot better (defensively and offensively). It never excelled in Philly, because AI never really had someone who could consistantly knock down shots, but now he does. I really hope AI signs an extension with the Nuggets, I don't want him playing anywhere else. Denver is a good fit, they just need a better coach.

A good read. Maybe most of us here are yuppy type fans that need a moment of sobriety. My opinion only !

This guy gets posted up, misses layups and cannot consistantly score. He and Marcus Camby turn over the ball at piviotable times in a game. Simply stated he's George Karl's Pet. You got Atkins play his butt. How can Atkins get any worse?

STIFF LIST (as of 2/7 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. THE NUGGETS AT HOME
How is it possible that a Nuggets team with this much talent can be 7-5 at home?! Things have gotten so bad that fans are clamoring for J.R. Smith to return.

2. CARMELO ANTHONY
Kobe Bryant plays through any and all ailments. Melo uses any and ailments as an excuse not to play.

3. KEVIN LOVE
Just when the T'Wolves are looking better, Love stomps on Luis Scola and lands himself a two-game suspension.

4. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS
The 'Cats have lost 11 straight and are now 3-21 ... in the Eastern Conference! This is what happens when you let an underwear salesman with a Hitler mustache run your team.

5. MIKE BROWN
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (Google it!) got himself a one-game suspension for making contact with a referee.
