Dino Costa's interview with Mychal Thompson...

Other than ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, you rarely hear broadcasters around the league take a harsh stance on the Nuggets situation in regards to George Karl. Mychal Thompson - the former Laker and current color analyst for their radio broadcast - interviewed with Radio Colorado Network's Dino Costa today, and said some shockingly candid things about Karl and the Nuggets. Most of the juicy stuff can be found in Part I of the interview...

After listening to this, I am really skeptical about Carmelo Anthony. I don't think he is one-dimensional as much as I think he is just extremely selfish and has lost explosion to the basket this year. If you watched the olympic qualifiers over the summer then you would have realized that Carmelo was a way better player than he is right now, he also slashed to the basket way more than he does now.
Another problem is that not only does Karl have no defensive plan but the Nuggets offensive scheme is atrocious. I'm watching Evans in a simple Phili offense, thriving, we traded him for a Steven Hunter, and here I blame Karl too because if you know how the Nuggets work, you know he is basically the one who controls all the trades (the reason why we didn't get Artest, who would really help against Kobe right now.)

I see a lot of MJ in Carmelo at times as far as his ability to post up and shoot with a man on him, but one thing he completely lacks is the desire to be in the greatest shape possible. The DUI doesn't help either. This would be the time Karl should be acting as a father figure and trying to get Melo concentrate on basketball.

I totally agree with this radio interview. I also have noticed that Melo never looks like he is in shape. As a professional athlete this is a key part of your success. I think once Karl is gone a new focus and commitment will be taken towards basketball and you will see Melo transform into a more chiseled figure. Man, I can't wait until this sereis is over and Karl is long gone.

That is true about Carmello's puffy appearance. More muscle and he could drive to the basket w/o trying to draw the free throws all the time.

STIFF LIST (as of 4/26 by Andrew Feinstein)

1. METTA WORLD PEACE

Metta resorted back to Ron Ron last Sunday by clubbing James Hardenwith an "inadvertent celebratory elbow", landing him a 7-game suspension. Apparently, changing his name didn't prevent NBA commissioner David Stern from overlooking Metta's past behavior problems.

2. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS

The 'Cats are on the verge of securing the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Given that the guy who runs the team - Michael Jordan - had previously drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison, should this really be a shock?

3. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
The team that was supposedly built to overcome the lockout-shortened season managed to lose 7 of its last 14 games, ceding the Western Conference's 1-seed to the Spurs in the process. Their reward might be a first round matchup with defending champion Dallas.

4. BILLY HUNTER AND DEREK FISHER
With report after report coming out about NBPA union head Hunter's shady, nepotistic dealings and questions arising about Fisher's own role in dealing with NBA owners behind Hunter's back during the lockout, this off-the-court scandal could prove to be more exciting than the playoffs themselves!

5. STEVE NASH AND THE PHOENIX SUNS
The Suns are on this list for squandering the last few great seasons from Nash. Nash is on this list for his stupidly stubborn loyalty to a franchise as awful as the Suns.
